Who is Revolut?

Revolut is a fintech company based in London, UK. Founded by Nikolay Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko in 2015, the company offers banking functionality including:

  • Revolut accounts that use Pound Sterling and Euros
  • The ability to open an account in minutes
  • Prepaid debit cards
  • Commission-free currency exchange
  • A mobile app for spending, budgeting, saving, and withdrawals in 140 different currencies (with more coming soon)
  • The ability to manage multiple accounts in one place

This year, Revolut became the UK’s most valuable fintech startup when a funding round increased its value to £4.2bn, eclipsing the valuation of fellow startup, Monzo.

How Revolut works

Revolut is building a global bank but it isn’t a bank yet. You can open an account in minutes, send and receive money, use an app to make transactions, and exchange currency quickly and easily without paying commission. But at the moment, Revolut is an “Electronic Money Institution”.

The company’s unique selling point (USP) centres on minimal fees, a more flexible and open approach to banking functionality, and its use of cutting-edge technology.

It’s perfect for frequent flyers and lovers of convenient tech as you can spend abroad and send money transfers worldwide with a low 0.5% fee.

It’s these kinds of features that show just how much Revolut is looking to shake up the finance sector.

Supported currencies

Revolut supports the following currencies for adding money to your account:

  • AUD
  • BGN
  • CAD
  • CHF
  • CZK
  • DKK
  • EUR
  • GBP
  • HKD
  • HRK
  • HUF
  • JPY
  • NOK
  • PLN
  • RON
  • SEK
  • USD
  • ZAR

Revolut also exchanges in the following cryptocurrency:

  • Bitcoin
  • Litecoin
  • Ethereum
  • Bitcoin Cash
  • XRP

For spending, more information can be found on the Revolut website.

Is Revolut a real bank?

Revolut currently holds a European banking licence from the European Central Bank. At the time of writing, it is looking to acquire a full UK banking licence. Once that happens, it can legally call itself a bank and offer services like overdrafts.

Despite that, Revolut Ltd is authorised in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (Firm Reference 900562) and has to “hold all client funds in a ‘segregated account’”. That means all money that goes through Revolut is safe. Its smartphone app is also protected by 2-factor authentication (2FA), with the option of fingerprint protection.

Why we’ve teamed up with Revolut

As a market leader in the account management space, Revolut is the perfect company to share our knowledge and growth.

Adzooma director and co-founder Robert Wass said:

“We’re delighted about our partnership with Revolut. They’re experts in their field and are always searching for new ways to revolutionise the industry for their customers, just like we are here at Adzooma.

For us, the partnership provides ample opportunity to propel Adzooma forward and make the platform accessible for every type of business. Working alongside Revolut is also a massive achievement for us given their impressive growth and ambitious targets.”

With the ability to open an account in minutes, exchange currency quickly and easily, and offer built-in features like budgeting and saving into its app, Revolut cares about saving time, money, and making things radically better for its customers, just like Adzooma.

The offers

In partnership with Revolut, Adzooma has two available offers.

  • The first offer is a 3-month free trial to the Adzooma platform.
  • The second offer gives £75 in Google Ads credit when you spend £25 or more.

Both offers are exclusive to Revolut customers and allow businesses to streamline their online advertising for a fraction of the price.
